‘Such a kind man’
In the same statement that Tony Dow’s son Christopher released, his wife included one of her own.
She said: “Tony was such a kind man. He had such a huge heart and I’ve never heard Tony say a bad or negative thing about anyone.”
‘He is in a better place’
In the Facebook post wherein Tony Dow’s death was announced, a statement from his son Christopher read: “Although this is a very sad day, I have comfort and peace that he is in a better place.
“He was the best Dad anyone could ask for.
“He was my coach, my mentor, my voice of reason, my best friend, my best man in my wedding, and my hero.
“My wife said something powerful and shows the kind of man he was.
Dow’s break from acting
Tony Dow took a break from acting in 1965 to spend three years in the National Guard, per IMDb.
In the 1970s, he even attempted writing and enrolled in a journalism program.
Tony Dow sculpted a piece for the Louvre
Dow had success as a sculptor with one of his works having been displayed in the Louvre.
“There’s a lot of remnants of wood things, trees and whatnot,” he told the Los Angeles Times in 2008 around the sculpture’s debut.
“I tend to find burly kinds of pieces, roots and things, and bring them home. Some of the prettiest pieces seem to come from burned wood. There’s a little bit of that blackness left in — it has a warmth to it.”
Tony Dow was previously married
Before marrying Shulkind, Dow was married to Carol Marlow from 1969 to 1980.
Christopher Dow, who was born on March 26, 1973, is the name of the son that Dow and Marlow had.
