The Home Depot locations across the country will be closed on November 23, 2023 in celebration of the holiday.

The U.S. Sun confirmed with associates of the store that all locations would be closed that Thursday.
The hardware store chain is one of many major retailers shutting its doors for Thanksgiving.
The U.S. Sun could not confirm whether nighttime workers would be required to work after midnight to prepare for Black Friday.
Walmart, for example, requires employees to work the night of thanksgiving to get ready for their sales.

The day off leaves many stores with a gap before their Black Friday events.
However, the Home Depot’s Black Friday discounts span the month of November.
The Home Depot did not immediately respond to requests for comment on employee hours.
OTHER OPTIONS
Tools will be difficult to come by nationwide on Thanksgiving, as many of the Home Depot’s competitors are also closing their doors for the day.

Lowe’s, their major competitor, will also be shut on the holiday.
However, some major retailers like Kroger will be open and others like Dollar General have yet to announce their Thanksgiving opening plans.
While these are not hardware stores, many of their locations do sell some basic tools and hardware.

Dollar General, for example, sells many hardware store staples like light bulbs, screwdrivers, and sandpaper.
Urgent hardware needs can be met on the holiday, though consumers may have to search for open locations of unorthodox retailers known for their groceries or other goods.

Many other stores have also announced their Thanksgiving plans.
Best Buy will close its stores across the country for the day.
Shoppers will still be able to shop holiday deals at the electronics retailer’s website and app.
Walmart recently received criticism for its Thanksgiving closing announcement.
The mega retailer’s CEO posted a video geared towards employees informing them of the day off.
Employees and consumers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to complain that the company was doing the ‘bare minimum’ for its employees.
